20 weeks

I am finally 20 weeks today...halfway there! I had a little bit of a stressful week and had somehow convinced myself that this little guy was going to 'fall out', if you will. I made Rob take me to Dr. K for an unscheduled appointment for reassurance. Good to know everything is closed up tight and he's looking good in there. I'm trying to stay calm but the next few weeks are going to be tough. A few days after 20 weeks was when everything started going downhill with the twins and they were delivered a little after 22 weeks and Makenna was delivered a little after 23 weeks, so you can imagine my paranoia. 24 weeks is a huge milestone for me because technically it is considered 'viability' and will be the most pregnant that I've ever been. 4 weeks is so close, yet so far away. Please keep praying...I'm a mess right now! :)

To the comment regarding my weight gain, I really wish I could give some awesome advice and talk about the amazingly healthy food that I eat. Since I have been on modified bedrest, much of the cooking has gone out the window and pizza and take out have been more of a staple around here than I'd like to admit. There is no logical reason why I've only gained 3 pounds...but I'll take it! During the day I'm good though, so maybe that balances it all out. Here's a typical day:
Breakfast: Yogurt & 6 prunes (don't ask)
Snack: Toast w/ PB&J or cheese stick or fruit
Lunch: Soup or Sandwich or Leftovers
Snack: Crackers & nuts or fruit
Dinner: Take out or pizza 3-4 days a week. The rest of the time, something simple like spaghetti, adobe chicken w/ rice, meatloaf, lasagna. You get the picture.
Dessert: 6 prunes yum :(

I finally took another belly picture. I never realized how tired I look first thing in the morning with no mascara. And if I had any idea at all how to use my new Photoshop program, there wouldn't be a glare from the sun all over me, but here you go.

  1. First of all, you look fabulous! I love the pink flower in the photo too. I can only imagine the anxiety you're having right now. I wish I had some powerful advice for you. Heck, I wish I could just take your anxiety away. I'm sorry. I hope and pray that the next couple of weeks are uneventful and quick. Thanks for sharing your food regimen (I hate to call it a diet). I'm trying to eat smaller meals more frequently too. I think that is a very good thing to do. Have you tried dried figs? I get them at Trader Joes. They are pretty good- I like them better than prunes. Try them if you are interested in switiching things up a bit. :)

Have you tried the flavored prunes? I prefer cherry over regular any day. You hang in there sweetie. Less than 4 weeks to go now!

Just found your blog and since we have a similar history wanted to say I know EXACTLY what you're going through. I'm 20 weeks today, and this was my "D-Day". I can't tell you how great it feels to officially be in uncharted territory, but I know you will be there soon! It has been so stressful over the last week and I have freaked out over every twitch and twinge too. Its really great marking this day off the calendar, and I can't wait for 28 weeks!

You do look great, and I'm sure we're both going to be starting next year with bouncing little miracles in our arms!

  16. Praying for you and counting down with you. I was a wreck leading up to and just past 24 weeks too. That was when Ethan was born so I anxiously awaited getting past that time. I didn't really start breathing until 30 weeks though and the big sigh of relief came just after Riley was born on her due date 2 weeks ago. I am so with you and believing for a healthy, full term baby boy for you two.

  18. Jen, I have been following up with you from your other blog and crying and smiling with you from the beginning. My brother and his wife lost a little girl at 30 weeks in Jan. 08 and twin girls at 20 weeks in Sept. 08. I was SO excited to see you were pregnant again and have been praying for you and your little guy. Your outlook on things is so positive and I just wish that my brother and his wife had the same feelings about things as you do. They had the same conditions behind their loses as you but have given up that they are suppose to be parents. I just want you to know that I keep my family updated on your progress as it gives myself and my parents hope in life itself. You are in our prayers.
